2006 New Orleans Saints by Brandon Mar SrA Special Season to RememberThe New Orleans Saints in 2006 are 10-6 and the NFC South Champs. We have not reached this accomplishment since the 2000 season. That season was reminiscent of this as we had a rookie head coach coming off a losing season. We reached the playoffs and won our first playoff game in history. This year we earned a first round bye by being the second seed in the playoffs. We won our divisional playoff game but lost the NFC Championship game after reaching this milestone for the first time in franchise history. This page is dedicated to our awesome year and great accomplishments. Our StoryThis season has brought joy and optimism to a city that was destroyed just two years ago by Hurricane Katrina. New Orleanians love their home team and this was a much needed distraction from the everyday struggles many of us faced. The 2006 New Orleans Saints were not just a football team, they were the heart and soul of our city trying to get back to normalcy. No one predicated the Saints would be the NFC South Camps at the beginning of the season just like many people doubt New Orleans will ever recover. The Saints has taught us that if there is a will and determination anything is possible. |
